This knife is the third iteration of its design. Basic, solid, and functional.
For this project, I used black palm scales with red vulcanized liners. Black palm presents a very impressive texture though it likes to splinter when it is initially cut or roughly sanded. Once higher grits are used, the wood seems to take a nice polish!
The bevels of this knife are as close to a mirror as I could get without any hand sanding. The progression was 40-120-220-400 (structured)-green rouge cork-white rouge cork. The flats are hand-sanded to 400 grit.
I picked up a simple leather sheath that I keep this knife in most of the time. It is well-oiled so corrosion isn't a big issue as long as I use and clean it regularly.
This remains one of my favorite designs. Honestly though, I think it would work better with a higher bevel or maybe a full flat grind.
