File Drop-point Knife
File Drop-point Knife
File knives are always a pleasure to create. It is a wonderful exercise in upcycling, especially when the file in question is both well-made and unfortunately damaged.
This knife was made from a chipped and battered Nicholson file. The hardened file was first annealed, then ground, heat-treated, etched, and stonewashed.
The simple handle uses a combination of Ebiara hardwood and black G10.
Sharpened to 1000 grit with a 3.5-micron strop at 22 degrees for a solid working edge.
