This knife features AEB-L stainless steel with a natural canvas micarta handle lined with white G10.
My original plan was to start using this as a standard design. It is a great example of how an idea may not translate to reality as expected.
The handle is not too bad. The odd shape does present some challenges when sanding and shaping. I had to go old school and pull out the drill with a drum sander attachment to get the finger groove properly sanded. If I were to make another, I'd opt to either angle or curve the spine downward a little bit and keep the butt of the knife thick with an abrupt, flat end.
The build photos show this knife with a working name of "Nightowl", a nod to my alma mater and also not surprising for anyone who knows my habits.
UPDATE: I did try to make another, and couldn't bring myself to finish it. The design just doesn't make sense to me. Live and learn.
