Forged Tool Steel Knife
Forged Tool Steel Knife
This knife was my first attempt at bladesmithing.
The material came from the center bar of a Wright 15/16” SAE wrench. For the sake of addressing heat treatment, I operated under the assumption the steel was O1 or something similar.
I drew out the blade in what I am certain was a dozen too-many heating cycles. In the end, the shape came out close to my goal.
Unable to settle on how to deal with the handle, I simply heated then twisted the steel to form a spiral.
