Just like my Stainless Steel General Purpose knife from earlier in 2022, this knife was an experiment in the pursuit of a simple, no-nonsense knife to use as a platform for getting the "small things right".
What I really like about this knife is its basic shape. While not difficult to grind, it offers an excellent canvas for nailing the basics, honing new techniques, or trying out potentially unusual approaches. In this first iteration, I opted for a tried and true steel, good ol' 80CRV2, a solid performer that takes a real beating.
Of course, it wouldn't be one of my knives without a dose of irony. See the tip? Notice how the bevel is narrower than at the belly? Yeah. I somehow didn't notice that until after gluing up the whole thing. Don't ask. Next time, it will be a lot better.
For now, I'm left with deciding how and if I want to correct this. Live and learn, right?
