Kicking off 2024 with another kiridashi-inspired knife made with simple tools. This one is quite special, though I cannot explain why quite yet. Soon, I hope!
The knife is very straightforward. Double-bevels, swooping spine, seven degrees primary bevel, and 20 degrees on the edge. Matte finish with cherry handles and brass pins.
Only two power tools used on this one: a cordless power drill and a metal bandsaw. Everything else filed and sanded by hand. During the heat treatment process, this little bugger developed an annoying little warp that required two extra temper cycles and clamps to sort out.
In the end, it turned out quite nicely.
